We went to visit my in-laws one year in Orlando {we scored some ridiculously cheap airplane tickets}. They took us to fun restaurant which had awesome fries an appetizers.  When we came home we craved them liked crazy so we tried to make them. They were so easy to replicate and fast to fix this has become one of our go-to appetizers. Such a crown pleaser...and this recipe is easy to alter- don't be afraid to experiment. These measurements will just get you started.

No matter what cheese or spices you use DON'T forget to add the sour cream/ranch sauce. It makes or breaks these fries.
Well, ok, the cheese is pretty important too.

You can see the sour cream under the potatoes

I didn't have green onions :(

Other Seasoning suggestions instead of seasoning salts
A. Jonny's seasoning salt, garlic, onion, sea salt etc
B. Fresh herbs (or dried) thyme, seasoning salts, garlic salt, rosmary, basil
c. Lipton Onion Soup Mix
D. Cumin, chili powder, garlic, peppers, onion -For a Southwest Flare
E. Curry and cumin for Eastern Flare

ok you get the point- season the potatoes how you would like it. Potatoes are pretty bland and soak up any flavor. You can go crazy!

Cheesy Potato Fries

by Desi

Ingredients

  • 4-6 Potatoes
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Sea Salt, Fresh ground pepper, your favorite seasoning salt
  • Sour Cream/Ranch Sauce:
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Toppings:
  • 1 cup (or as much as you like) Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup real bacon bits
  • 1/4 cup green onions

Directions

1.Cut potatoes into "steak french fries" size. {I like them thicker...but that means it will also take a little longer to cook than skinny ones.} 2.Place on foiled baking sheet. 3.Drizzle with olive oil and lightly toss with tongs. 4.Sprinkle salts and pepper over the potatoes. 5.Bake 400 for 40 minutes or until fork tender 6. in separate bowl mix: sour cream, Ranch dressing and milk. 7.On a separate platter smooth out 3/4 of the sour cream sauce. 8. Place hot potatoes on sour cream sauce. 9. Drizzle remaining sour cream sauce on potatoes Sprinkle toppings. Place under broiler for a few seconds to re-melt cheese. It's going to be messy and delicious.
