REMEMBER the rules? Who would win to you? doesn't matter what the reason- how genus or ridiculous.
WE did two turkeys because we are crazy.
Nate has ALWAYS wanted to fry a turkey, and this was his year. He bought the fryer and the oil and got a free turkey from work.
He decided to rub it with the recipe below (instead of inject) it the day before...and his turkey turned out so juicy so salty and prefect.
I really wanted the opportunity to roast my own turkey. I mean, how else were we going to get grandma's stuffing? which is a must for our traditional thanksgiving dinner.
I wanted to try brining it the night before, see if that helped with drying out...
So the day before, along side of nate, I made my turkey brine
Mine turned out great too. Tasted just like turkey tastes every Thanksgiving. I kind of thought that my brining it would not let it dry out so fast on the table? I thought it would taste a little different....but it didn't. It was delicious.
SO turkey vs turkey?
The texture of the fried was that of a chicken breast. It wasn't pull apart tender- instead it the tender juicy.
The texture of my turkey was traditional pull apart tender- but also dries out fast after sitting plated for a while. (thank goodness we have gravy)
For me? Who would win? Fried turkey vs roasted?
maybe roasted....cause I like the texture.
maybe fried...cause I like the salt.
Your reasons-- please tell.
Nate's Fried turkey. she's a beaut.
top piece....fried turkey.
bottom pieces....roasted turkey.
My brine recipe:
in a turkey oven bag place turkey, add brine- place in cooler and load ice around.
seal bag. close cooler. allow to sit overnight.
