Desi, my sis, gave me this idea. She makes won tons for a snack occasionally and I decided to turn it in to a yummy, fun light dinner. She does a cream cheese with green onions and garlic salt then serves with sweet and sour sauce. Which is soo yummy. Won tons are just so fun because you can do anything with them! We even tried putting little chunks of chocolate candy bars in at the end of cooking our dinner and it was delicious. Seriously indulgent. Fried chocolate.. has to be good. Anyway, I did a little Mexican meets oriental. Here's what I did...
Ingredients:
1 pkg won ton wrappers
1 egg
veggie oil
1 cup shredded cooked chicken
1/2 sour cream
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
juice of 1/2 a lemon
1 green onion chopped
1 tsp cumin
1 tbsp minced garlic
1/2 tsp garlic salt
pepper to taste
Directions:
Mix all ingredients EXCEPT wrappers, egg, and oil- together in a bowl. Wisk egg in a separate bowl. Heat about 1.5 inches of oil in pan. Place individual wrapper on a clean dry surface, pile a spoonful of mixture in the middle. Brush 2 neighboring edges with egg. Fold wrapper in half. Compile as many as your little heart desires. When oil is ready, place as many as will fit in the pan with edges barely touching. When edges begin to brown flip over. Only takes 10-15 secs. We both sides are a golden brown remove from oil with slotted spoon and place on a surface that will allow the excess oil to drain like paper towels on a plate. Allow to cool and serve with salsa and guacamole to dip in! enjoy!
